The Purpose of The Imperfect Disciple

The purpose behind The Imperfect Disciple blog is to help create passionate disciples of Jesus Christ through Biblically based book studies. No, I'm not a minister, a preacher or an authority figure. I am just a sinner saved by grace going out into the world proclaiming the Gospel (Mark 16:15).

My vision through this blog is to reach all people including those who are unable to attend Bible studies throughout the week due to the whole "life happenings" and for those that are shut in and just not able to get out. Participation is highly encouraged through the comments section below each weekly post. This will allow everyone to shed some light on parts of the study that others didn't grasp or missed entirely.

The inspiration for this type of Bible study comes from the mission statement of my home church, Community of Grace United Methodist Church. "Community of Grace is a vital church living through the power of the Holy Spirit, creating passionate disciples of Jesus Christ, and transforming lives and the world. What better way than to develop ourselves into disciples of Jesus than to study his words and apply them to our lives. Being a Christian is not enough without developing our relationship with Him.

I certainly encourage you to join in and participate in the studies coming in the near future. I also encourage anyone, no matter what church you go to, to join me on this journey. Please feel free to share post through social media, subscribe to this blog, email me or whatever. If you have suggestions for future book studies let me know. I will post links of the book needed for the study so you will not need to go searching trying to find it. I personally use digital books on my kindle, but for those who like the feel of a real book in your hands you will be able to have that as well.

The first book that is going to be covered in this blog is "Spiritual Leadership" by J. Oswald Sanders is what God looks for in leader. This includes the cost of following Jesus and responsibilities. This study will begin soon. If you are joining me please comment below and then comment again once you have your book so I will know when to start. If you cannot find the comment box, please click on the title of the entry.

In the meantime, please pray that through this study that we may strengthen our daily walk with Christ and draw people to Jesus. I look forward to the journey ahead.
